Fantastic Four - Official Teaser Trailer

Fox has finally released the first teaser trailer for their reboot of Fantastic Four!

Director Josh Trank (Chronicle) has recently said that he was going for a hard science feel, and that he was inspired by David Cronenberg films such as The Fly. These influences shows in the trailer as the film definitely looks more grounded and darker than the previous iteration, which is not necessarily a bad thing. Expect to see some "body horror" elements as well. Maybe not straight horror, but the heroes do see their bodies go through some quick and unexpected changes that perhaps get a little out of control. It will be interesting to see a full trailer to get a better feel for the movie.

Thankfully, the film features some talented actors with Miles Teller as Mr. Fantastic, Kate Mara as The Invisible Woman, Michael B. Jordan as The Human Torch, Jamie Bell as The Thing, and Toby Kebbell as Doom.

Here is an official synopsis for the film:

"FANTASTIC FOUR,  a contemporary re-imagining of Marvel's original and longest-running superhero team, centers on four young outsiders who teleport to an alternate and dangerous universe, which alters their physical form in shocking ways. Their lives irrevocably upended, the team must learn to harness their daunting new abilities and work together to save Earth from a former friend turned enemy."

Fantastic Four will arrive in US theaters on August 7.

Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt - First Official Trailer

Watch the first official trailer for Tina Fey's new Netflix comedy, Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt.

Looks like a surefire hit to me. Created by Tina Fey and Robert Carlock (30 Rock), the series stars Ellie Kemper as the titular character. The cast also includes Tituss Burgess, Sara Chase, Lauren Adams, Sol Miranda, Jane Krakowski, and Carol Kane.

Here's an official synopsis:

"After living in a cult for fifteen years, Kimmy decides to reclaim her life and start over in New York City. Armed with just a backpack, light-up sneakers, and a couple of way-past-due library books, she's ready to take on a world she didn't even think existed anymore. Wide-eyed but resilient, nothing is going to stand in her way. She quickly finds a new job, a new roommate, and a new beginning."

Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt will debut its first season on Netflix on March 6.

Mortal Kombat X - Kitana and Kung Lao Gameplay Trailer

Kitana and Kung Lao return in the newest gameplay trailer for Mortal Kombat X!

It is nice to see Goro brought back into the mix, though it is too bad he is pre-order DLC. Nonetheless, there seems to be a nice mix of old favorites and new fighters for the newest iteration of the gory fighter.

Mortal Kombat X is set to release on April 14 for the PC, Xbox 360, PS3, Xbox One, and PS4.

Not a lot to go off of yet, but a god introduction to the character. The film definitely has potential with such a great cast. Directed by Peyton Reed, the film stars Paul Rudd, Michael Douglas, Evangeline Lilly, and Corey Stoll.

Here is a short synopsis:

"Armed with a super-suit with the astonishing ability to shrink in scale but increase in strength, con-man Scott Lang must embrace his inner hero and help his mentor, Dr. Hank Pym, plan and pull off a heist that will save the world."

Knight of Cups - First Official Trailer

Christian Bale stars in the crazy, sexy first trailer for Knight of Cups.

I don't know what the film is about either. The trailer is visually impressive, with Bale's character, Rick, seemingly partaking of an excess in sex and the party life. However, it also appears that he may be going through an existential journey of sorts. Rick seems to have reached a crossroads and is deciding what direction to go in. At least that is what I gleaned from the words and visuals in the trailer.

Written and directed by Terrence Malick (To the Wonder, Tree of Life), the film also stars Cate Blanchett and Natalie Portman. The film will make its debut at the 65th Berlin Film Festival in February.

Here is the official synopsis courtesy of ScreenDaily:

"Once there was a young prince whose father, the king of the East, sent him down into Egypt to find a pearl. But when the prince arrived, the people poured him a cup. Drinking it, he forgot he was the son of a king, forgot about the pearl and fell into a deep sleep.

Rick's father used to read this story to him as a boy.

The road to the East stretches out before him. Will he set forth?"

Well, that was definitely a unique and thought-provoking synopsis. It does seem to go along well with what was presented in the trailer. It will be interesting to see what the final product looks like.

Knight of Cups will debut in US theaters sometime in 2015.

Street Fighter V - Announcement and Gameplay Trailers

Capcom has released two new trailers for Street Fighter V, exclusive to PS4 and PC. First, check out the official announcement trailer.

That was inspiring. Nice nod to the history of the franchise, while teasing the future. Now watch the gameplay trailer.

The graphics definitely look much better than before. The character models have improved, and the draw distance makes the stage feel much larger. Nice little touch with the lights breaking when Chun-Li kicked Ryu in front of it. Hopefully all stages have little effects like this. It really makes the stages feel more alive, and the fighters more powerful.

Also noticeable was the return of the water color look from Street Fighter IV, although Chun-Li's water color effects were a light blue. Perhaps each fighter will have their own color effects, which would add to their individuality.

The big question is what gameplay elements has Capcom added to make this game worthy of the number 5? Cross platform play was announced, so both PS4 and PC gamers can play with each other. Furthermore, Ryu went through a wall to reveal more of the stage, which showcases how large the stages have become. It looks great but hopefully there will be more than that. Capcom will be releasing a video of the first Street Fighter V match next week, so we should find out then.

No release date has been revealed, but Street Fighter V will arrive exclusively on the PS4 and PC.
