Captain America: Civil War - Second Official Trailer

The new Spider-Man debuts in the latest trailer for Captain America: Civil War!

This looks great so far. We saw Black Panther take down the Winter Soldier from a speeding motorcycle, Ant-Man riding Hawkeye's arrow, and Spider-Man finally jump in to join the Marvel Cinematic Universe for the first time!

Interestingly, Spider-Man's eyes can change size, which appears to be facilitated by mechanical shutters as evidenced by the details around the eyes in the pic above, and the sound that can be heard as the eyes change in the trailer. Very clever design reminiscent of a camera's aperture, which may have been inspired by Peter Parker's "real life" job as a photographer for the Daily Bugle.

Directed by Joe and Anthony Russo (Captain America: The Winter Soldier), the film stars Chris Evans, Robert Downey Jr, Scarlett Johansson, Sebastian Stan, Anthony Mackie, Paul Rudd, Chadwick Boseman, Jeremy Renner, Paul Bettany, Elizabeth Olsen, Tom Holland, and Martin Freeman.

Here is an official synopsis:

"Captain America: Civil War finds Steve Rogers leading the newly formed team of Avengers in their continued efforts to safeguard humanity. But after another incident involving the Avengers results in collateral damage, political pressure mounts to install a system of accountability, headed by a governing body to oversee and direct the team. The new status quo fractures the Avengers, resulting in two camps - one led by Steve Rogers and his desire for the Avengers to remain free to defend humanity without government interference, and the other following Tony Stark's surprising decision to support government oversight and accountability."

Captain America: Civil War will swing into US theaters on May 6, 2016.

Ghostbusters - First Official Trailer

Watch the first official trailer for the Ghostbusters reboot. Who you gonna call?

That last line got a laugh out of me. Also, Kate McKinnon looks like she could steal the movie with her unique character. She really stands out. I like the look of the ghosts, which is similar to the old films but with an updated touch. They even had the library ghost and a Slimer cameo!

That said, I think this looks just OK so far. I would be more excited if this was a sequel with the ladies taking over for the old team. They could always open a dimensional rift and team up with Ray Stantz and Winston Zeddemore somewhere down the line. Nonetheless, what they have here looks acceptable. Hope to see more soon.

Directed by Paul Feig (Bridemaids, The Heat), the movie stars Kristen Wiig, Melissa McCarthy, Kate McKinnon, Leslie Jones, Chris Hemsworth, Andy Garcia, Michael K. Williams, Matt Walsh, and Neil Casey.

Ghostbusters will arrive in US theaters on July 15, 2016.

First of all, Black Panther looks awesome. Second, this movie may be even bigger than Avengers: Age of Ultron. We will see some of the usual team members like Black Widow and Hawkeye, as well as newer additions such as Ant-Man and Spider-Man. It will be interesting to see how they handle so many characters, even if the focus is mainly on Captain America.

Suicide Squad - Comic-Con Trailer

The Joker returns in the Comic-Con trailer for Suicide Squad!

This is basically a long teaser, but it gives audiences a good look at the cast and, what everyone has been waiting for, a better look at the Joker. Jared Leto looks terrifying as the Clown Prince of Crime, but who is he talking to? Looking forward to seeing more.

Directed by David Ayer, the film stars Will Smith as Deadshot, Jared Leto as The Joker, Margot Robbie as Harley Quinn, Joel Kinnaman as Rick Flag, Jai Courtney as Captain Boomerang, Cara Delevingne as Enchantress, Viola Davis as Amanda Waller, Adewale Akinnuoye-Agbaje as Killer Croc, Karen Fukuhara as Katana, Adam Beach as Slipknot, and Jay Hernandez as El Diablo.

Fantastic Four - First Full-Length Trailer

Doctor Doom finally appears in the first full-length trailer for Fantastic Four!.... Say that 10 times fast.

Anyone else suddenly craving ribs? (House of Cards reference) The trailer was not bad, but I still need to see more. For a full-length trailer, I think it could have better differentiated itself from all the other superhero films. Hopefully the next trailer will do just that, considering the burgeoning amount of comic book-related movies in theaters.

Directed by Josh Trank, the film stars Miles Teller as Mr. Fantastic, Kate Mara as The Invisible Woman, Michael B. Jordan as The Human Torch, Jamie Bell as The Thing, and Toby Kebbell as Doom.

Here is an official synopsis for the film:

"FANTASTIC FOUR,  a contemporary re-imagining of Marvel's original and longest-running superhero team, centers on four young outsiders who teleport to an alternate and dangerous universe, which alters their physical form in shocking ways. Their lives irrevocably upended, the team must learn to harness their daunting new abilities and work together to save Earth from a former friend turned enemy."

Fantastic Four will arrive in US theaters on August 7th.

Mad Max: Fury Road - Official Main Trailer

Tom Hardy and Charlize Theron star in the explosive new trailer for Mad Max: Fury Road.

The film certainly has some stunning visuals. I think you could take almost any frame from the trailer and it will look amazing just as it is.

George Miller returns to direct the fourth installment of his post-apocalyptic franchise. The film stars Tom Hardy, Charlize Theron, Nicholas Hoult, Hugh Keays-Byrne, Nathan Jones, Zoë Kravitz, Riley Keough, Rosie Huntington-Whiteley, Abbey Lee, and Courtney Eaton.

Here is a short synopsis:

"Haunted by his turbulent past, Mad Max believes the best way to survive is to wander alone. Nevertheless, he becomes swept up with a group fleeing across the Wasteland in a War Rig driven by an elite Imperator, Furiosa. They are escaping a Citadel terrorized by the Immortan Joe, from whom something irreplaceable has been taken. Enraged, the Warlord marshals all his gangs and pursues the rebels ruthlessly in the high-octane Road War that follows."

Mad Max: Fury Road arrives in US theaters on May 15th.

Pixels - First Official Trailer

Pac-Man, Donkey Kong, and more classic video game icons invade Earth in the first official trailer for Pixels.

Simpsons Futurama did it. Was I the first one to make that joke?

The trailer did look like a lot of fun for the most part, but Adam Sandler makes me wary. However, Peter Dinklage is a great actor, and that last bit with the creator of Pac-Man was awesome, so I'm cautiously optimistic. Hopefully it turns out to be a fun movie.

Based on the 2010 short film of the same name, Pixels is directed by Chris Columbus and stars Adam Sandler, Kevin James, Michelle Monaghan, Peter Dinklage, Josh Gad, and Brian Cox.

Here is a short synopsis:

"When intergalactic aliens misinterpret video-feeds of classic arcade games as a declaration of war against them, they attack the Earth, using the games as models for their various assaults. President Will Cooper (Kevin James) has to call on his childhood best friend, '80s video game champion Sam Brenner (Adam Sandler), now a home theater installer, to lead a team of old-school arcaders (Peter Dinklage and Josh Gad) to defeat the aliens and save the planet. Joining them is Lt. Col. Violet Van Patten (Michelle Monaghan), a specialist supplying the arcaders with unique weapons to fight the aliens."

Pixels is scheduled to invade US theaters on July 24th.

The trailer gets points just for that Boston song. The film looks like it is going to be fun for the whole family, while also including some emotional resonance.

The movie has a great cast with Amy Poehler as Joy, Bill Hader as Fear, Lewis Black as Anger, Mindy Kaling as Disgust, and Phyllis Smith as Sadness.

Avengers: Age of Ultron - Third Official Trailer

Catch a glimpse of the Vision in the newest trailer for Avengers: Age of Ultron.

This movie is looking better with each new trailer. What's amazing is that the main antagonist is a robot, but seems to have layers behind him, rather than being just a cartoony villain. I hope my early assessment is correct, but the trailer makes it look promising thanks to some great dialogue.

Directed by Joss Whedon, the film stars Robert Downey Jr., Chris Evans, Chris Hemsworth, Mark Ruffalo, Scarlett Johansson, Jeremy Renner, Samuel L. Jackson, James Spader, Paul Bettany, Aaron Taylor-Johnson, and Elizabeth Olsen.

Here is a short story synopsis:

"When Tony Stark tries to jumpstart a dormant peacekeeping program, things go awry and Earth's Mightiest Heroes, including Iron Man, Captain America, Thor, The Incredible Hulk, Black Widow and Hawkeye, are put to the ultimate test as the fate of the planet hangs in the balance. As the villainous Ultron emerges, it is up to the Avengers to stop him from enacting his terrible plans, and soon uneasy alliances and unexpected action pave the way for an epic and unique global adventure."

Inherent Vice - First Official Trailer

Joaquin Phoenix stars in the entertaining first trailer for Paul Thomas Anderson's Inherent Vice! I'm in line for my ticket already.

The trailer looks great and P.T. Anderson is an extremely capable director, as evidenced by his critically acclaimed films such as Boogie NightsMagnolia, and There Will Be Blood.

The film also boasts an impressive cast with Joaquin Phoenix, Josh Brolin, Owen Wilson, Benicio Del Toro, Katherine Waterson, Reese Witherspoon, Jena Malone, Martin Short, and Joanna Newson.

Taken 3 - First Official Trailer

Liam Neeson returns in the first official trailer for Taken 3! Or is that Tak3n?

Looks like they changed things a bit with the story this time around, which isn't necessarily a bad thing. Maybe it should be called "Framed" instead?

Dead Snow 2: Red vs. Dead - First US Trailer

The Nazi zombies rise again in the first US trailer for Dead Snow 2: Red vs. Dead. USA! USA! USA!

The horror sequel looks to be just as fun as the first flick, while also raising the stakes. The zombie vs. zombie action makes this a fairly unique film and should garner attention from fans of the genre.

Dead Snow 2: Red vs. Dead will open in US theaters on October 10th.
