E3: Nintendo's Super Smash Bros Digital Event and More!

Here comes a new challenger! Watch Nintendo kick off E3 with new Super Smash Bros. content, the return of the Nintendo World Championships, and more!

For those of you who don't have the time to watch all of it, here is one of the more exciting announcements.... the official unveiling of Street Fighter's Ryu for Smash Bros.

Nice to see Tekken represented with a Heihachi Mii costume as well. What's so amazing is that Ryu retains his moves from Street Fighter, including the traditional inputs from the famed fighting series. Doing these inputs adds damage to Ryu's moves. In addition, his moves vary depending on whether you tap or press down the attack buttons, AND he has two Final Smash attacks depending on your proximity to opponents. So Ryu is definitely one of the most versatile characters on the roster.

Now check out the return of Fire Emblem's Roy!

Roy is definitely not just a clone. He has a powerful sword attack that does incredible damage to opponents when fully charged.... if they survive it. This attack, among others, also does flame damage, which adds an extra "oomph" to Roy's attacks. Overall, he is fun to play and is a welcome addition to the roster, even with the current Fire Emblem representation.

Ryu, Roy, Lucas, and more are available for download on the Nintendo eShop now!

Nintendo also announced EarthBound Beginnings for the Wii U Virtual Console!

This is a localized port of the original Mother game from 1989, which was never released in the US. Its sequel, Mother 2, was released in the US as EarthBound. EarthBound Beginnings is available on the Nintendo eShop...... now!

Nintendo finished the day with the return of their Nintendo World Championship! The show is long but ended up being a lot of fun to watch. They played a variety of games including Splatoon and Mario Kart 8. Take a look at least for the Mario Maker portion at the end. It is intense.

Much like in the film The Wizard, the Nintendo World Championship served as a great marketing tool to sell the latest Mario game. They really showed off what Mario Maker is capable of. Mario fans have something great to look forward to whether it's creating levels or playing them.

Mario Maker is scheduled to be released for the Wii U in September.

That is all for today, but E3 is just beginning. Nintendo has another digital event this Tuesday at 9am PT, which will show off a lot more games. Of course, other companies such as Microsoft, Electronic Arts, and Sony will have their own shows throughout the week, so keep an eye out.

For more E3 Nintendo goodness, make sure to check out their official Nintendo @ E3 2015 website and their official YouTube page.

Fallout 4 - First Official Trailer

Bethesda has finally released the first post-apocalyptic trailer for Fallout 4!.... "War never changes."

I really appreciate that Bethesda chose to use in-game graphics rather than trying to wow us with pre-rendered cutscenes. It gives us a much better idea of what to expect from the game, such as the familiar aesthetics we've come to expect from the series, and the huge open world. Kudos on getting Ron Perlman to come back as well.

Bethesda promises to show more at their E3 Showcase on Sunday, June 14th at 7pm PT.

No release date has been announced, but Fallout 4 will arrive for the PC, PS4, and Xbox One.

Street Fighter V - M. Bison Reveal Trailer

M. Bison returns in the newest gameplay trailer for Street Fighter V, and he's a little different than you remember.

Check out the white hair and longer coat. Those are small changes but they help make the old dictator feel a little fresher. In addition, his moveset looks to have changed a bit as well. Bison's attacks look flashier, but they also look like a lot of fun to try out.

M. Bison is now the fourth character to be revealed for the new fighting game along with Ryu, Chun Li, and a cyborg Charlie Nash. Those who preorder the game in North America will automatically be enrolled in the beta access program. Can't wait to see what else Capcom reveals for Street Fighter V.

No official release date has been announced, but Street Fighter V is expected to arrive no later than spring 2016 exclusively on the PS4 and PC.

DC's Legends of Tomorrow - First Look Trailer

The CW has released the epic first trailer for their new crossover series, DC's Legends of Tomorrow!

Whoah. Good to see the Sara Lance character back as the White Canary. It is also nice to see lesser known characters getting some time to shine like Hawkgirl and Rip Hunter. Vandal Savage should prove to be a worthy antagonist for this group. If Arrow and The Flash are any indication, this will be a good show for superhero fans.

The show stars Victor Garber as Dr. Martin Stein/Firestorm, Brandon Routh as Ray Palmer/The Atom, Caity Lotz as Sara Lance/White Canary, Arthur Darvill as Rip Hunter, Ciara Renee as Kendra Saunders/Hawkgirl, Franz Drameh as Jay Jackson, Dominic Purcell as Mick Rory/Heat Wave, and Wentworth Miller as Leonard Snart/Captain Cold.

Here is an official synopsis:

"When heroes alone are not enough... the world needs legends. Having seen the future, one he will desperately try to prevent from happening, time-traveling rogue Rip Hunter is tasked with assembling a disparate group of both heroes and villains to confront of an unstoppable threat - one in which not only is the planet at stake, but all of time itself. Can this ragtag team defeat an immortal threat unlike anything they have ever known?"

DC's Legends of Tomorrow is set to debut on The CW next year.

Supergirl - First Look Trailer

CBS has released the first trailer for their upcoming series Supergirl!

Great overview of the series. Looks like a fun show, and appears to stick fairly close to the source material, much like Arrow and The Flash. It also has a similar feel to those CW programs, which is definitely a good thing. Might have to give the show a watch myself.

The series stars Melissa Benoist as Kara Danvers/Kara Zor-El/Supergirl, Calista Flockhart as Cat Grant, Chyler Leigh as Alexandra "Alex" Danvers, Mehcad Brooks as James "Jimmy" Olsen, and David Harewood as Hank Henshaw. Laura Benanti will have a recurring role as Alura Zor-El, Kara's biological mother. Helen Slater (who portrayed Kara in the 1984 Supergirl film) and Dean Cain (who portrayed Superman in the TV series Lois & Clark: The New Adventures of Superman) have signed on to appear in mystery roles.

Here is the official synopsis courtesy of CBS:

"SUPERGIRL is an action-adventure drama based on the DC Comics character Kara Zor-El (Melissa Benoist), Superman's (Kal-El) cousin who, after 12 years of keeping her powers a secret on Earth, decides to finally embrace her superhuman abilities and be the hero she was always meant to be. Twelve-year-old Kara escaped the doomed planet Krypton with her parents' help at the same time as the infant Kal-El. Protected and raised on Earth by her foster family, the Danvers, Kara grew up in the shadow of her foster sister, Alex (Chyler Leigh), and learned to conceal the phenomenal powers she shares with her famous cousin in order to keep her identity a secret. Years later at 24, Kara lives in National City assisting media mogul and fierce taskmaster Cat Grant (Golden Globe Award winner Calista Flockhart), who just hired the Daily Planet's former photographer, James Olsen (Mehcad Brooks), as her new art director. However, Kara's days of keeping her talents a secret are over when Hank Henshaw (David Harewood), head of a super-secret agency where her sister also works, enlists her to help them protect the citizens of National City from sinister threats. Though Kara will need to find a way to manage her newfound empowerment with her very human relationships, her heart soars as she takes to the skies as Supergirl to fight crime. Greg Berlanti ('The Flash,' 'Arrow'), Ali Adler, Sarah Schecter and Andrew Kreisberg are executive producers for Berlanti Productions in association with Warner Bros. Television. The pilot was directed by Glen Winter ('Arrow')."

Supergirl will air on Monday nights at 8pm ET/PT this November on CBS.

Orange is the New Black - New Photos and Series Trailer

Netflix has released a new series trailer for Orange is the New Black.

Great new trailer splicing up footage from the first two seasons with the new season. If you haven't seen what the series is all about, now is a good time to catch up.

Aside from the new trailer, Netflix has also released some new photos from the third season.

"You can't sit with us."

What could be more thrilling than a game of dominos?

When even Big Boo the Clown can't cheer up Pennsatucky, all hope is lost.

Don't try to resist Crazy Eyes. You can't. She'll throw pie for you.

Chapman might have been wrong when she said they do "other things".

Stay clear of these two.

"Don't you dare throw pie at me."

Lori Petty sighting.

"Queen of the World!.... Well maybe just of the prison."

Here's a short synopsis for the new season:

"The Women of Litchfield unapologetically return for the third coming. With a crisis of faith and their beliefs and loyalties being tested, each character must decide what and who to believe in."

All 14 episodes of the 3rd season of Orange Is the New Black will be available on Netflix on June 12th.

Batman: Arkham Knight - "All Who Follow You" Trailer

Nightwing, Robin, and Catwoman join the fight in the latest trailer for Batman: Arkham Knight.

The new trailer is showing off the new "Dual Play" mechanic, which Warner Bros. says allows players to "switch seamlessly between The Dark Knight and his allies including Robin, Nightwing, and Catwoman in free-flow combat." Sounds like developer Rocksteady Studios is working very hard to make this an amazing last entry in the Arkham series.

Here is a short synopsis for the game:

"In the explosive finale to the 'Arkham' series, Batman faces the ultimate threat against the city he is sworn to protect. The Scarecrow returns to unite an impressive roster of super villains, including Penguin, Two-Face and Harley Quinn, to destroy the Dark Knight forever. Batman: Arkham Knight introduces Rocksteady's uniquely designed version of the Batmobile, which is drivable for the first time in the franchise. The addition of this legendary vehicle, combined with the acclaimed gameplay of the 'Batman Arkham' series, offers gamers the ultimate and complete Batman experience as they tear through the streets and soar across the skyline of the entirety of Gotham City."

Batman: Arkham Knight will arrive on June 23rd for the PC, Xbox One, and PS4.
